What Makes Mukundara Tiger Reserve (MHTR) Special
Mukundara is more than just a safari park or Tiger reserve. The reserve covers the Vindhya and Aravalli hill ranges. Here, dense forest arches over the horizon with open grassland and the river valleys in between. The Chambal and Kali Sindh rivers flow through the area.
In 2018, tigers were brought back here. The population has been increasing slowly since then. All trips will see Tiger sightings. However, the drive is well worth it because of the forest itself. The ravines, teak trees, and rocky outcrops add to the character of this reserve. It’s not like Ranthambore.
Best Safari Zones in Mukundara
Three main zones are open for safari right now.
- The most popular is the Darrah zone. It was the area with the most movement of tigers and with the best roads within the park. This is where most first-time visitors begin their visit.
- The Chambal River forms the boundary of the Gothra Bhainsrodgarh zone. Bigger woodlands are found, and the safari is more tranquil. This side is not as popular for jeeps.
- The Ranvtha zone. A great choice for those who prefer a less hectic and more intimate safari.
- The Boraba-Kolipura zone
The zones are each under a separate permit. Assign the zone according to your requirements. Views of tigers, birds, or the river.
Wildlife You Can Spot on Safari
Tigers headline the reserve, but the forest holds much more.
Leopards move through the rocky areas. Sloth bears dig near termite mounds at dawn. Sambar deer, chital, and nilgai graze in open patches through the day. Wild boar and jackals show up often, too.
Bird lovers get plenty here, like GOPAL VIHAR pakshi vihar. Crested serpent eagles circle above the ridges. Painted spurfowl hide in dry leaf cover. Water birds gather along the Chambal in winter.

Safari Timings and Booking Tips
Mukundara runs two safari shifts daily. Morning safaris start around 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM, and evening safaris: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Evening safaris begin around 3 PM and run until sunset.

Each big force 4*4 jeep 11 seater carries a maximum of 10 guests plus a guide. Carry a valid photo ID.
How to Reach Mukundara from Kota
Your base on this safari is Kota. The distance between Kota and the reserve ranges between approximately 25 and 40 km, depending on the direction from which you approach the reserve.
Kota Jn railway station is directly connected to Delhi, Mumbai, and Jaipur. You can get to the safari gate in less than an hour by taxi from the station. Kota is also well connected by roads through NH52, and it is a simple addition if you are travelling through Rajasthan. We also offer a pick and DROP facility.
No airport in Kota yet, but it’s under construction. The closest one is Jaipur, which is located at a distance of 250 kilometers from here.
